In 2011 an undergraduate Kinesiology business class had two group (4 & 5 students) do a U.S. trike feasability study on HWI’s behalf. The need for this research was the result of many suggestions we had received over the years to make a trike for the wounder warriors.
Thus Kevin, our engineer designed a U.S. model. Then through the thorough research that these two student groups conducted we were able to consider the pros and cons of entering the U.S. market. After much prayer and discussion among the board we made an organizational decision that it would not be advantageous for HWI to branch out into the U.S. market.
We are a small organization that can’t spread our expertise any thinner or we will become ineffective in our current pursuit of developing a manufacturing process for our overseas trike.
In addition there are many different hand-pedaled options already available in the U.S. market. For more information on what is currently available we suggest you look at the inventory and services provided through Creative Mobility.
Below is one of the groups feasibility presentation.
