Alice began the week with 3 His Wheels Speaking engagements scheduled for the year. But by tomorrow afternoon it will be 4 for the week. Yesterday HWI had a Skype meeting with 6 Jr. Engineering students at Taylor University. Today Alice did a pre-recorded broadcast with WBEZ. Public Radio Chicago that will air tomorrow during the 12:30P-1:00P hour. Tomorrow AM Kevin and Alice will Skype again with the Engineering students about project ideas they have come up with for the trike. Tomorrow Alice also is the ministry practitioner speaking for a History and Philosophy of Christian Education class at Wheaton College.

This update is from January 31, 2014. “ONU His Wheels Team has been making some progress after our long break.
Over the past 2 weeks, Ben and Britny have met a few times to take measurements of the trike to see where parts have room to be placed (i.e. motors, batteries, wiring, circuit board), and have designed a hopefully simple design for these. We have detached the hand pedals and the chain to free up the front end and are making plans to cut the front end soon to transform this into a caster wheel.

Here is one very exciting thing that came from His Wheels International’s trip to Taylor University in December. John, a 13 year old friend of HWI, an engineering guru, who lives in Upland and who attended the December meeting was able to audit a January Engineering course at Taylor. Here is a HWI video that John did for us.
Dr. Brooks, board of directors, faculty, family, friends and, most importantly, graduates; it is a great honor to share in this momentous occasion with you on the brink of my 30th class reunion in May when Resurrection University celebrates its 100th anniversary.
For you, class of 2013, this is both Commencement and Graduation. A paradox of beginning and ending, all wrapped into one. It is a day where all sorts of polar opposites are happening at the same time. (more…)

It is hard to believe that in May 2014 His Wheels will enter its 10th year of ministry.
The New Year has just begun but already today many exciting new opportunities are beginning to percolate.
1. After our last newsletter one of our readers suggested a possible engineering program nearby that we should look into to see if they were interested in our University Trike Consortium. One thing we’ve never done much of is cold calling. (more…)
Today Kevin, our engineer traveled to Taylor University for a University Trike Consortium introductory meeting. Alice was present via Skype due to health issues. Thanks to Dr. C. Brainer, our host, he set up three meetings for HWI. First there was lunch with 4 engineering professors and 3 Wandering Wheels team members. The engineers stayed about 45 min. longer than planned and had many great brainstorming ideas. Next was the Enactus business club faculty member and then on to meet with the short term mission trip coordinator. What an amazing day. Please pray for God’s direction as the faculty continue to contemplate and pray about possibilities with HWI.
