On Thursday August 7th Alice met with Tim from Servlife ministries. We networked and brainstormed about possible ways that His Wheels Trike and manufacturing process could work within Servlife’s mission to help the people in Nepal, India. One thing about development work, it happens through the process of building one relationship at a time.
It is always an adventure when meeting with those from other organizations. There’s no telling how HWI’s trike will inspire another person. It may be in the actual sending of a trike, but it may be just a thought or an idea or another connector. All of those pieces are equally as valuable but harder to quantify. What a relief to know God is not in the quantifying business. He just asks for our obedience one step at a time.
Tim heard about HWI through a special needs teenager who received a three-wheeler from HWI. Since this teen is non-verbal his mother shared the following story with Tim, of how God had provided for their needs.
His mom shared, “I was talking with God about a month ago and I told Him that my son with autism was outgrowing his current bike and really needed a larger adult tricycle. I proceeded to look on Craig’s list to try and find a used one with no luck. I then called a local bike shop that sells new special needs bikes but they were totally out of our price range. I finally found one online at Walmart a royal blue adult tricycle with a large white basket on the back. So I just told God I would really like a bike like this one for my son if it was ok with Him. I didn’t think much more of it but then I got an email a couple weeks later from a friend that has a bike ministry. She said someone she knew was giving away an adult trike. She immediately thought of my son and emailed me to see if we could use one. I responded right away; “Well yes, as a matter of fact I had been praying for one for him.” So a week later we pulled up to my friend’s house and low and behold it was a perfect bike. It is just the right size for him now and one he can grow into for the future. Wouldn’t you know it? It was royal blue with a large white basket on the back. I have to chuckle every time I tell this story because it really shows that God does delight in giving us the desires of our hearts down to the smallest details.”
