Welcome to the 1st Annual Chicago Unconventional Bicycle Expo October 2nd–4th, 2015

The nation’s largest show for recumbents, recumbent tricycles, quadracycles, folding cycles, tandems, velomobiles, transporters, electrical bikes, special needs bikes, collectibles, carbo bikes, trailers, customized designs and accessories.

All three days will be filled with informative educational seminars, product demonstrations, and other events for dealers and bike enthusiasts. (more…)

Nigeria

On May 9, 2015 Kevin Nikolich, our His Wheels International design engineer met with Ayuba Gufwan in Grand Rapids Michigan. Ayuba is from Nigeria and part of Beautiful Gates/Wheelchairs for Nigeria. The purpose of the meeting was to deliver a HWI trike and discuss how HWI could partner with Wheelchairs for Nigeria, assisting with trike design related issues.

Alice was not able to attend the meeting but talked with Ayuba. His opening greeting was, “Thanks for your vision.” Truth be told, Ayuba was the one who inspired the HWI trike Di-Vision.

Senior Capstone Project Presentation 2015

Today Kevin and Alice went to Olivet Nazarene University. There we heard the final presentation from our HWI Senior Design Team, which consisted of 3 mechanical engineer students: Loren, David and Alex. For their Senior Capstone Project they were given the challenge of coming up with cargo option for the His Wheels International Dual Offset Tube Trike. When they went to prototype the cargo design they received help from Sam, a 2nd year student. Great Job Loren, David and Alex on your exceptional work.

Trike Community Forum

Sign in today and and join our new trike community forum and pass the information along to others who may have an interest in the grassroots work of hand-pedaled three-wheels (trikes) for those in need around the world.

How did this come about? On February 18, 2015 there was a first of its kind, six hour meeting, gathering some of those involved in mobility work around the world. (more…)

Networking

On Thursday August 7th Alice met with Tim from Servlife ministries. We networked and brainstormed about possible ways that His Wheels Trike and manufacturing process could work within Servlife’s mission to help the people in Nepal, India. One thing about development work, it happens through the process of building one relationship at a time.

It is always an adventure when meeting with those from other organizations. There’s no telling how HWI’s trike will inspire another person. (more…)
